Letters From Pastor James Pinto Jr.
June 3, 2020 Greetings, Recently I was reading through the Book of Nehemiah and a portion of text which stood out to me was when the people of Israel confessed their sin unto God. Nehemiah on approval from the king of Persia asked for permission to return to Jerusalem in order to rebuild the walls of the city. Jerusalem had been decimated for years because of their unwillingness to return to the LORD. God had allowed the city to be destroyed and its people taken captive into foreign lands. Nehemiah sought God and prayed for the good favor of the king to allow him to return and rebuild. Nehemiah faced opposition from his enemies, which did not want to see the walls rebuilt. There is much to be said in respect to the enemy not wanting to allow the walls to be built up again. The walls were a defense from intruding armies and others who sought to harm the Jews. We have an enemy who desires to see the walls remain breached even today. Our enemy is Satan, the prince of the power of the air who seeks to steal, kill and destroy. As we consider our current situation, make no mistake there is a spirit behind it. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of wickedness. Racism, anger, strife, murder, jealousy, greed, wickedness are all works of the lust of the eye, and of the flesh. We witnessed on national television the deliberate killing of a man. We have witnessed on television, people black and white coming together to condemn such an act. We have also witnessed mass rioting and hatred which are destroying whatever little of civility we had left. What is behind all of this, from racism, to vandalism, to hatred and murder is SIN. Sin is what brought down a once great dynasty that the Jews had enjoyed.
In the 9th chapter of Nehemiah after the wall was finished, the people of Israel confessed their sin unto the LORD. There are a few verses which speak of the compassion of God. In verses 5-37 the history of the Jews is basically recited from Abraham, to Moses, to the military exploits of Joshua right up to their current distress (v.37). In the record of those verses it tells of the Jews coming out of Egypt under Moses. God provided for them bread from heaven and water from the rock. He gave them a cloud which followed them by day and a fire by night which was His presence among them. Despite the provision of God they became stubborn and were ready to return to Egypt. They made a God of molten metal and worshiped the works of their hands. Even though they did all of that, God was merciful to them. “But THOU art a God of forgiveness, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness; and THOU did not forsake them”, (v.17) Under Joshua they possessed the land of Canaan and came into a fertile land; houses, vineyards, olive groves, fruit trees, were all given unto them. They ate and grew fat and reveled in God's goodness, but they became disobedient and God gave them into the hands of their enemies. “But when they cried to THEE in their time of their distress, THOU did hear from heaven, and according to Thy great compassion THOU did give them deliverers who delivered them from their oppressors”, (v.27). Throughout the nations history this seemed to be the cycle. “But as soon as they had rest they did evil again before THEE; therefore THOU did abandon them to the hand of their enemies, so that they ruled over them. When they cried again to THEE, THOU did hear from heaven ”; “And many times THOU did rescue them according to THY compassion”; “Nevertheless, in THY great compassion THOU did not make an end of them or forsake them”, (v.28;31). As a people of God, we see sin rampant in society. People have turned from God pursuing wickedness and it has led to the hearts of many growing cold. What are we to do as violence erupts and hatred and strife pour out into the streets? We must cry out to the God of heaven who hears. We have lost our way as a nation, but I believe the record of Scripture shows that people could right their wrongs, turn from their wickedness and cry out to God, and HE in His compassion will hear them. The sins of this Nation are many, however I read that God is merciful. In His lovingkindness He will extend His hand to heal, to restore, to above all else touch the heart of mankind. We need that touch of God NOW in order to heal the hurts, subdue the pain, quench the anger, restore sanity and bring forth His love. Nothing can help us at this time but a move of the Spirit of God upon us. We need the LOVE of Christ to move among humanity. May we search our hearts, seek His face, cry out to God with fasting and prayer and believe that God will one more time move upon us as a people. Many are speaking of one more revival and I believe that is going to happen. Let us reject the sin of racism, anger, strife, immorality, perversion and turn our hearts to Him who can heal us. On June 4th the church will be open from 11am – 7pm with corporate prayer taking place at 6pm. Please come and join us as we fast and pray for America. I am pleased to report to you that to date we have been able to pick up 7,476 meals which were distributed to Marlboro Houses, Sheepshead Bay Houses and Gerritsen Beach communities. We have also made these available to those in our Church community. Besides that our partnerships with neighboring churches has been effective in maintaining our pantry along with generous donations from our people at Trinity. Through them we have literally picked up tons of fruit, vegetables and dry goods. If you have a need please contact David at the church office between the hours of 10am–3pm.
For the last few weeks we have been having outdoor services on Sunday morning. Those attending have bee tremendously blessed by coming together and seeing their brethren in Christ. Each week one of the neighbors compliments the praise and worship. One neighbor this past Sunday said, “I like what you are doing, its good to see you out here!” Please come out and join us. Prior to Covid-19 I was trying to purchase a Tent to bring to various parks to and communities in order to have services. One brother in Florida offered a large sum of money which would pay for more than half the tent. Two others have stepped forward and the tent is basically paid for. Unfortunately the City does not allow tents larger than 20x20 to be erected in parks. I believe along with others that this tent will be a blessing to erect here on the property, especially now as people desire a little distance as they come together. There was an unforeseen expense because I had to hire an architect to draw up plans and file with the city in order to erect it on our property. The cost was $3000. Would you be able to help with this expense? Offerings can be made by going to our web page, trinitytab.com. You will see the word GIVE on the WELCOME page. Click on it and under Tithes and Offerings there is an option to give to TENT CAMPAIGN. This tent will be a blessing for years to come both to us and the community. Any amount will help. Thank you.
I want to thank you all for your continued support to the ministry of Trinity Tabernacle of Gravesend.

Greetings, First and foremost I would like to thank you for your continued financial support to the ministry of Trinity Tabernacle of Gravesend. For many of you these have been trying times financially, however your sacrifice of giving has truly been a testimony to your gratitude to the Lord and generosity unto others.God shall supply all your needs!I am happy to share with you that the Riviera Catering in conjunction with New York State has generously donated 160 meals to our church. Some have been designated to families in Marlboro Houses and others have already been distributed to those in need at our church. It seems we may be receiving more from them in the near future. We also have received donations from individuals to help with our food pantry in the way of fresh vegetables.I was also contacted by a public school in the community which has a gardening program. They will be donating their produce to us throughout the next few months.Feed NY continues to bless us monthly with dry goods. If you have a need please contact David at the church office between the hours of 10am-3pm.Our Drive In Service has been going great the last two weeks. The encouragement and joy many are feeling as they attend is a blessing. One woman said it was the best day she had in six weeks. Our Jewish neighbor heard the worship music and said to David, “Thank you this is refreshing.”We will continue these services indefinitely.I have not heard anything as to when churches will be open, but I could foresee us havingoutdoor services (not in vehicles) in the near future. This past Sunday at our drive in service there were three individuals seeking water baptism. This coming Friday I will begin a series of teachings on Water Baptism. If you desire to be water baptized please join me as I will be teaching at 7pm on our Trinity Tabernacle of Gravesend Facebook Live Page. There will be a Water Baptism sometime in June. This will be a refresher for some which have been in the faith for some time and I will try to keep it interesting for you also. Those individuals that are being baptized and desire the notes on Water Baptism contact David at his email requesting them.
